Aqiqah is a Sunnah Muak’ka’dah, strongly encouraged by our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Aqiqah is to be performed by the parents or the guardians of the child to show gratitude to Allah (Swt) for the gift of a child. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions used to perform Aqiqah when they were bestowed with a newborn.
